Home Instead’s ‘Eggcellent Easter Envelope Eggstravaganza’ Posted on May 5, 2021May 20, 2021 by admin We are really proud to have supported Home Instead’s ‘Eggcellent Easter Envelope Eggstravaganza’ initiative. We contributed a book of poems written by Dorcan Academy students and some sunflower seeds to plan and enjoy at home. We hope that our contributions lifted the spirits of those self-isolating due to being vulnerable in the Covid pandemic. Here is one of the poems by Year 7 student, Lily-Rose: Whilst the world is stood still. A virus then lockdown, everything stops, only essential services like farmers sowing crops. Whilst the human race stays at home and put their lives on hold, the first signs of life bloom and delicately unfold. Daffodils, snowdrops and crocuses to, flourish season after season just to be there for you. They brighten our life through the hard year, through meadows, valleys and hills they appear. As nature prevails, at least we all know, if we are kind to nature, year after year it will grow.
Bronze Practice – Duke of Edinburgh Award Posted on May 4, 2021May 20, 2021 by admin Earlier this term our Year 9 & 10 students completed their practice Bronze Duke Of Edinburgh’s Award. On each day they walked between 15 & 16km! The students spent Saturday following a route with a member of staff & used the skills they had learned in the classroom in a real-world exercise. Then on Sunday, they walked independently in their teams meeting staff at checkpoints. A huge well done to everyone involved!
