Equipment

Here is a list of equipment we expect our students to have with them each day at the school.

  • A school bag – large enough to carry A4 files.
  • Link Book – provided by the school.
  • A Pencil Case containing:
    • At least two black pens
    • green pen
    • At least two pencils
    • Ruler
    • Rubber
    • Pencil sharpener
    • Scientific calculator (we recommend Casio FX-83GTCW)
    • Protractor
  • Knowledge Organiser (provided by the school for students in Years 7, 8 and 9) – to view details please see our Knowledge Organiser page: https://www.dorcan.co.uk/students-and-parents/knowledge-organisers/

    Students in Years 10 and 11 will be provided with Knowledge Organiser pages but should bring an A4 folder to school to keep documents together
  • You should also bring a reading book with you every day to use in tutor times when there are opportunities for reading.
  • Year 7 students will be provided with a spelling book which should be brought to school every day.

Desirable:

  • Coloured crayons, not felt tips
  • English language pocket dictionary 

Mobile phones

Mobile phones and other electronic devices must be switched off and in bag during the school day and whilst on site. Smart watches are not allowed.
Mobile phones may be used in lessons for educational purposes with teacher’s permission or, if requested to use, for example in an emergency.

(The school cannot take responsibility for the loss or damage to expensive items such as phones and iPods.)

Drinks

Fizzy drinks and energy drinks of any description are not allowed in school.
