The main principle of admission to The Dorcan Academy is to maintain the character of the school as a comprehensive community school, providing for the needs of young persons within the 11 – 16 age range. There is no guarantee of a place for children attending our feeder schools: Covingham Park Primary, Eldene Primary, Goddard Park Primary, Liden Primary and Nythe Primary, but they are given priority in the event of oversubscription for places. Colebrook will be officially added as a feeder school from 2027-28.
Please note, the school has agreed a temporary variation to its Published Admission Number (PAN) for the academic year 2026/27, increasing the PAN from 170 to 190 for the 2026/27 Point of Entry (PoE) intake only. This variation has been applied to the determined admission arrangements in accordance with the School Admissions Code.
The school will endeavour to provide places for students who have not attended a named feeder school, but whose parents wish them to attend The Dorcan Academy, provided that they can be accommodated within the admission limits.
Applications must be made through the Swindon Borough Council Local Authority Co-ordinated Scheme and all instructions and deadlines within that should be adhered to by applicants. Further information can be found here:
The school’s admissions officer is Mrs Titcombe rtitcombe@dorcan.co.uk.
