Aspirations for Medical School Posted on January 19, 2023January 19, 2023 by Anne Cleary Congratulations to Erin, one of our budding medics in Y10 who took part in an online ‘Medical Live’ session. Here are some comments from her after the event: The online medical live was amazing. We followed a case study in which we discussed the vitals of the patient and looked at an MRI and CT scans, before diagnosing the patient with hypertrophic cardio myopathy. We also looked at models of the cardiovascular system and discussed the heart muscle, specifically the bicuspid and tricuspid valves. We also discussed the hole between the two atria which closes when you take your first breath, and we touched upon why this sometimes doesn’t happen, therefore leaving a hole in the heart. At the end of the session there was a Q&A in which I found out more about required A-Level subjects and some more information surrounding med school.
Kingfisher House Character Counter winners again Posted on January 9, 2023January 9, 2023 by Anne Cleary Congratulations again to Kingfisher House on winning the Character Counter trophy for term 2. Collecting the trophy this time were the head students for Kingfisher House. However, Kingfisher only just beat Osprey House by three counters. So, will term 3 see a different winner? Good luck to all the houses and we look forward to catching our students demonstrating our character virtues in action.
