Congratulations to Erin, one of our budding medics in Y10 who took part in an online ‘Medical Live’ session. Here are some comments from her after the event:
The online medical live was amazing. We followed a case study in which we discussed the vitals of the patient and looked at an MRI and CT scans, before diagnosing the patient with hypertrophic cardio myopathy. We also looked at models of the cardiovascular system and discussed the heart muscle, specifically the bicuspid and tricuspid valves. We also discussed the hole between the two atria which closes when you take your first breath, and we touched upon why this sometimes doesn’t happen, therefore leaving a hole in the heart.
At the end of the session there was a Q&A in which I found out more about required A-Level subjects and some more information surrounding med school.
