We had a wonderful evening celebrating the hard work and achievements of our Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award students. From volunteering and new skills to physical challenges and the expeditions our teams have shown real resilience and dedication to gain their Bronze Award.
On Friday as part of the Swindon Youth Festival of Literature we welcomed performance poet Ash Dickinson to The Dorcan Academy for an energetic and inspiring session with Year 7. It was wonderful to see students creating their own poems and even performing them on stage.
Huge congratulations to the year 8 netball team who were crowned Swindon Schools netball champions on Wednesday 12th November. They faced Lydiard Park Academy in the final emerging as strong winners 22-9. The girls have shown excellent commitment to netball🏆
This morning, a group of year 8s & 9s visited The Wyvern Theatre. The group enjoyed Phil Earle’s talk about his books and what inspired him to become an author 📚. There are lots more events planned for the Swindon Youth Festival of Literature this week!
Next up in our Growth Mindset adventures, our Year 10 students are heading to Bristol! Our Geographers will be undertaking important fieldwork research, while the rest of the year group will visit M Shed to explore Bristol’s role in the transatlantic slave trade.
Our biggest Growth Mindset Day to date is off to a fantastic start! 100 Year 8 students will explore the Natural History Museum in London, sparking curiosity and a love of lifelong learning. We’re so proud to see our students embracing new experiences and thinking big.
Our Year 11 GCSE Music students had a brilliant time at The Platform in Swindon last week, watching the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra perform a fantastic variety of pieces — including one of our GCSE set works!🎵
"Year 11 Historians had a fantastic day at Hampton Court Palace on the 9th of October. They experienced an exemplary Elizabethan session by the Palace staff and toured the apartments of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. Even having the opportunity to picnic in the palace gardens."
