Our Year 10 students travelled to the Buscot Estate, Oxfordshire to investigate the cross profile and velocity of straight river channels and meanders. The data collected will be used to help them prepare for their third Geography Exam in June 2023 by showing them different ways data can be collected and the risks students face. Data showed that the cross profiles and velocity readings of straights and meanders do vary, however the low level of the river made it difficult to collect readings in some cases. Many students enjoyed the opportunity to keep cool in the river water on a hot summer’s day.
