Barnardo’s has been commissioned to help deliver support for the Swindon Consent Project. This has come from the Safer Streets funding. Their aim is to run groups for young females aged between 12 and 19, providing them with the tools, techniques and support to keep themselves safe on the streets, in close relationships and digitally.
In order to help them determine the content of these groups they came to The Dorcan Academy to run a focus group with 10 of our girls. It was an hour long and our students have helped to set the foundations of the project in place. They came up with some interesting and helpful ideas and made a fantastic impression on our two Barnardo’s visitors, Tamara and Hardeep. It was a very positive experience for our students to take part in a project which will ultimately keep them safe and educate their generation on staying safe on the streets.
