We were very lucky to have a visit from the choir of Merton College Oxford on 14 March. The morning started with a music workshop and the students were thrown in to some fantastic singing from the start, with a warm-up, some 4 part singing and then a mixture of traditional and modern music (Bohemian Rhapsody was a big hit!). This gave our musicians an opportunity to experience music making at a very high and professional level.
In the second session 5 undergraduates gave a talk about university – why our students should aspire to higher education. They then had the opportunity to chat informally to our guests over a game of Dingbats!
We were very proud of the way in which our students got involved in the activities and of how they interacted with the visitors. Let’s hope this encourages them to ‘Aspire to Greatness’.
