On the 7th and 9th December Highly Able students and students with a high Learning potential in Science went to the Christmas lectures at The Museum of Natural History Oxford. The Lectures were really interesting and covered topics such as the importance of Insects, maintaining biodiversity, volcanoes and investigating planets with invisible waves. Students also had some time to look at the amazing exhibits in the museum which also included an opportunity to handle some amazing insects.
Students’ comments included; “I didn’t realise that dinosaurs were that big!!” “I didn’t know the way that bugs felt on your hand”
I am really proud of the way Dorcan students behaved and that each student took something away from the event that broadened their experience. All students said that it has increased their interest in a career in the Sciences.
