The main principle of admission to The Dorcan Academy is to maintain the character of the school as a comprehensive community school, providing for the needs of young persons within the 11 - 16 age range. There is no guarantee of a place for children attending the named feeder schools: Covingham Park Primary, Eldene Primary, Goddard Park Primary, Liden Primary and Nythe Primary, but they are given priority in the event of oversubscription for places.

The school will endeavour to provide places for students who have not attended a named feeder school, but whose parents wish them to attend The Dorcan Academy, provided that they can be accommodated within the admission limits.

Applications must be made through the Swindon Borough Council Local Authority Co-ordinated Scheme and all instructions and deadlines within that should be adhered to by applicants. Further information can be found here: Swindon Borough Council Website

The school’s admissions officer is Mrs Titcombe

Our main open evening is on Thursday 28th September 2017 from 6pm-8:30pm. This is an event we strongly recommend parents and children attend. You will listen to a presentation by the Head Teacher. You will also have the opportunity to visit all the Departments in the academy, watch numerous activities involving student participation and talk to teachers and students about the school.

We are also offering the opportunity for you to visit the school on any Tuesday to Thursday throughout October at either 9:20am, 10:20am 11:45am or by appointment. Please contact Mrs Hitchen on 01793 525231 to arrange a tour.
